At Dragons Badminton, we are dedicated to promoting the sport throughout South East Wales. Our mission is to inspire children to take up and pursue badminton, enjoying themselves while developing their skills and confidence. We are committed to creating a welcoming and supportive environment where every player feels at home. Additionally, we offer advanced training sessions for players looking to elevate their game and compete in tournaments regularly. These sessions are designed to push players to the next level by focusing on advanced techniques, tactical strategies, and physical conditioning

Our coach

Hi, I'm Luke

With over 15 years of competitive badminton experience, I've played at every level, from local club tournaments to international competitions. My journey began representing my county at a young age, and today, I’m proud to be a key player on the Welsh senior team. Now, as a Welsh national coach, I have the privilege of mentoring and developing some of the country’s most promising badminton talents.

My coaching career is built on a strong foundation of qualifications and experience. By the age of 18, I had already earned my Level 1 & 2 UKCC coaching certifications, and I later completed a Bachelor’s degree in Sports Coaching from Cardiff Metropolitan University.

Always striving for excellence, I am currently advancing my expertise through the Badminton Europe Advanced Course and hold the prestigious BWF Level 3 coaching award—a distinction I’m honoured to be the only coach in Wales to achieve.

I have been coaching full-time in South Wales for the past three years, working with two universities to lead group team sessions. Additionally, I have played a key role in establishing several junior clubs across the region to promote youth badminton, encourage player development, and support athletes in progressing to competitive tournament levels.

I am always looking for ways to improve and grow Dragons Badminton. Our two biggest upcoming projects include launching an over-12s junior section to provide more opportunities for young players to learn and develop their skills. Additionally, we are introducing an adult section focused on social play, creating a welcoming environment for players of all levels to enjoy the sport.
